Loving The God of Truth

Welcome to all those in the ODM who desire to know and to love the God of Truth through the faithful study of His Word. Please feel free to share your comments, insights, questions, concerns, words of encouragement, thanksgiving, praise, and prayer requests with all of us.

May God most richly bless the reading of His precious Word to our hearts this year.

"The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever.
The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous.
They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold;
They are sweeter than honey from the comb.
By them is your servant warned;

In keeping them there is great reward."

(Psalm 19:7-11)

Mattew 28:1~10

 1 Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. 5But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 7Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you." 8So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9And behold, Jesus met them and said, "Greetings!" And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me."

It shows how hard it was even for the people who had seen Jesus with their eyes to believe that Jesus would rise after his death. This fact might make me look into myself what kind of image I have of His rising from the tomb. Is it still a mysterious scenery like from any movie or comic book? Or Do I really believe that Jesus win the death without question. Do we feel so excited and touched about this amazing night? This moment is when Jesus proved that he is Christ and son of God. It's not a fantasy novel. It did happen for real.

Thanks for your post Sungeun. Hope you are doing well!
The 2 women had the proper response when they were in front of the risen son of God. They worshipped him at his feet.
You bring up a good question as to how we respond to knowing that Christ has risen. Are we in amazement and do we bow and worship him at his feet when we come in to his presence at church or in our daily lives? I know I oftentimes don't bring preoccupied with other trivial things instead.

Hi Sungeun!

Do I really believe that Jesus overcame death? You bring up a good point. I know I do and I say I do as well.

I'm sure I would have passed out or something crazy if I were to witness the moment Jesus rose again. What an amazing sight!

thanks for your reflection, sungeun. this passage gives a description of the glorified Christ as having an appearance "like lightning" with "clothes white as snow". His glorified presence elicits one of two responses: terror and fear, as in the case of the guards who fell before Him like dead men OR worship and reverence as in the case of the women. one day, we, too, will see the glorified Christ. our reaction will be purely involuntary--either unspeakable horror or unspeakable joy--and it will be the dividing line by which we will know where we really stood in our christian life.

Hi Sungeun! Thanks for your entry.

I don't know exactly how I would react to something so impossible. I agree with Esther in that I'll probably faint or think that I've gone insane at first, but after the initial shock wears off, I think I would rejoice and delight in the fact that that Jesus had rose from the dead. It's happy news!
