Loving The God of Truth

Welcome to all those in the ODM who desire to know and to love the God of Truth through the faithful study of His Word. Please feel free to share your comments, insights, questions, concerns, words of encouragement, thanksgiving, praise, and prayer requests with all of us.

May God most richly bless the reading of His precious Word to our hearts this year.

"The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever.
The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous.
They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold;
They are sweeter than honey from the comb.
By them is your servant warned;

In keeping them there is great reward."

(Psalm 19:7-11)

Lights in the World

"...work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure." (12-13)

"14. Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life...18. Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me."

I went to a revival this past Sunday and the speaker was saying that, as Christians, we died to ourselves and that God is the one living in us. We have to do this EVERYDAY. We live in a generation filled with sin and a lot of us have become used to it. Also, since it is our human nature to sin, we must repent everyday and let God work and live in us.

From the revival and this past Sunday, God spoke to me saying that my priorities weren't straight. So I repented and listened to what God wanted to tell me. It was Pslam 1.3 "...but his delight is in the law of the lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. he is like a tree planted by the streams of water...whatever he does prospers."

It says the same here, that we must hold fast onto the Word...that's the only way we have wisdom, discernment, and become lights in the world.

Thank you Inyoung for your reflection. I was very encouraged by today's passage knowing that It is God works in you.... When I depend on myself and my own strength to do so called ' God's work', I fail and experience fraturation and disppointment. Many time we set our own agenda and plan as if they were God's and tried to accomplish with our own strength and wisdom. How foolish we are!!! God simply asks us to be available to be used by God. It is God that works in us. Our willingness and submission to the call of God is what God desires us to do, everything else is upto God. If we truly understand that, we will be at ease and peace even we face uncertainities and hardships in our lives.

thanks for your reflection, innie. there is so much grace and wisdom in these short verses. paul exhorts those of us who are obedient to the gospel to continue to "work out our salvation with fear and trembling for GOD HIMSELF IS AT WORK WITHIN US. are we conscious of God working within us? do we strive with all our might and energy to actively pursue the things of righteousness and throw off the sin that so easily entangles? we must respond to His "working within us" by "working out" those aspects of ourselves that need perfecting.

the passage also states, "do everything without arguing or complaining so that you may become blameless and pure, chldren of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe". what a beautiful picture paul depicts! is there not a longing within us, in spite of how far we fall short, to "DO EVERYTHING WITHOUT ARGUING AND COMPLAINING"?, to trust God so completely that we might bear all things for His glory? paul states that only if we live in this way will we be "blameless and pure, children of God in a crooked and depraved generation". as long as we complain and argue, we will look exactly the same as those in the crooked and depraved generation that we are trying to distinguish ourselves from. how simple the command is, and how utterly practical to our daily living. yet when we honestly examine our lives, how impossible it seems!

only with God "working in us" might we attain that kind of patience that bears all things without complaining and arguing. may we all "work out" what God is "working in us" to do. only then will we shine like stars in a such a dark universe as these present evil days.
