Loving The God of Truth

Welcome to all those in the ODM who desire to know and to love the God of Truth through the faithful study of His Word. Please feel free to share your comments, insights, questions, concerns, words of encouragement, thanksgiving, praise, and prayer requests with all of us.

May God most richly bless the reading of His precious Word to our hearts this year.

"The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever.
The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous.
They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold;
They are sweeter than honey from the comb.
By them is your servant warned;

In keeping them there is great reward."

(Psalm 19:7-11)

Thanksgiving and Prayer

V9-10: "And this s my prayer: that you are love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and and blameless until the day of Christ."

As we read and meditate upon the Word of God and we gain more knowledge of knowing who God is, it will cause us to love Him more. Real love is not a feeling that comes and goes, it requires growth and maturation. The only way to so that is that our love for God has to be rooted in knowledge and understanding.
As we begin our reading the book of Philippians, I pray that God will enrich us with the wisdom and knowledge of His word so that through His Word, we will grow and mature as Christians. Our faith will be strengthen and our knowledge of Him will be deepened. We will pursue to become what God desire us to be. There will be no greater joy of knowing our God and doing His Will until He calls us home.

Thanks for your motivating post Kwijung! As I read this passage and your reflection my heart was filled with thanksgiving for all of you ladies. I pray the Lord will continue to bless our group and help us to keep pressing on together in our faith...even through this blog and our goal to read through God's word together. Excited to read through Philippians!

thanks kwijung for such a beautiful reflection. there are so many wonderful encouragements in even this short passage--i'm always so moved whenever i read it. what a wonderful prayer paul prays for the church--that their love for God may be rooted in knowledge and in depth of insight so that 1) they might discern what is best, that 2) they may be found pure and blameless in Christ Jesus and that 3) they might be filled with the fruit of righteousness to the glory and praise of God. i really pray this might become a living reality in all of us as we grow together in the faith.

paul is also deeply moved by the fellowship he shares with the philippian church and its commitment to the gospel. what an affection he has for these fellow believers and how they encouraged him by their faithfulness! he is also confident that "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion in the day of Christ Jesus". this is maybe one of the most moving statements in the entire Bible--HE, not we will "complete" and perfect the faith that is within us. our salvation is within HIS hands, not ours. and because He started it, it will be completed and perfected one day.

We really see the purity of Paul's heart and his genuine desire for those to be followers of Christ. This was a very encouraging passage!
