Loving The God of Truth

Welcome to all those in the ODM who desire to know and to love the God of Truth through the faithful study of His Word. Please feel free to share your comments, insights, questions, concerns, words of encouragement, thanksgiving, praise, and prayer requests with all of us.

May God most richly bless the reading of His precious Word to our hearts this year.

"The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever.
The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous.
They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold;
They are sweeter than honey from the comb.
By them is your servant warned;

In keeping them there is great reward."

(Psalm 19:7-11)

The Little Children and Jesus

In a world dangerous to children, loving parents wanted to bring their children to Jesus. If he would bless them, pray for them, place his hands on them, then surely those children would be protected, healed, and blessed. Who could blame them? They had seen the amazing things Jesus had done for others. They loved their children. Jesus himself had talked about letting children come to him. Why would the disciples stop them? Maybe it's the same reason we do. We get distracted by other things and let them take us, and our children, away from the Lord. We let problems with our spouse destroy our home and crush our children's hearts. We get involved in important religious things and forget to involve our children in our spiritual journey. No matter what, Jesus' message is clear: "Quit! Quit getting in the way of the children from coming to me!" Let's not only hear his words, but let's respond to them

thanks for an insightful post, kwijung. i can think of so many ways we hinder our children from coming to the Lord. one that especially come to mind is living unfaithful, worldly, selfish lives completely devoid of trust and faith in God. another is that we think that their spiritual needs are somehow not urgent when they are young. the disciples surely thought this as do many adults today. we have to remember, though, that children's spiritual needs are just as great as ours. childhood is probably the very best time to teach our children about Jesus Christ and His salvation. it is most crucial in the case of our children that their spiritual needs be foremost on our minds as we raise them. we will fail them miserably, however good a job we do in other ways, if by our own poor example we hinder them from coming to the Lord.
